Today, I am going to cover a topic of interest to many smash players around, and is the “which type of character do you use?”. On This post, I will try to cover some of the different type of players I have met, and the different ways in which those players choose their characters, some of the players out there choose their mains based on all-time favorite characters, top tiers, or some even brag by using bad characters, let’s take a look here.
Important Types:
All-time favorites:
These kind of gamers, use the same characters they used since Super Smash Bros Melee or even since the first Super Smash Bros. Game, even if the characters had massive changes, they still use them because they still like them.
The Top Tiers:
These kind of players are the ones that only choose certain characters that are considered top tiers, top tiers are usually the characters that perform the best on tournaments, in this case Top Tiers for Brawl by now are officially considered only Snake and Meta knight, a lot of people including noobs, switch from their current character to top tiers in order to become the sensation among friends, some of them succeed but some other people don’t because in a certain aspect, its the way you use the character, and it also involve using advanced techniques in which some case, average players or casual players have no idea of how to do them.
The Braggers:

The braggers, that kind of gamer who have kinda mastered the game, this kind of player had used each character, memorized its techniques and movements. The braggers are those players who like to humillate other players by using characters that are in the low tier list, in other words crappy characters, for example in Melee a bragger is a guy who by using Pichu is able to beat a good Fox Player. Or at Brawl a Kirby or Jigglypuff been able to humillate a Snake Player easily. Be careful with this kind of players because when they lose they are like “Meeh… I was using a crappy character, let me use my main now”.
The No Mainers
These kind of players are either experienced or complete novice, as an experienced player you now have enough knowledge to know which characters to use at certain situations, or which character will counter the enemy easily. These players have already set their list of favorite characters and hated characters, over 9,000 battles have allowed them to choose which are their favorite characters, and which characters they should use to counter certain characters. And as novice players, these kind of players usually go choose Random to later find their favorite character.
